Dr. Fernando comes to Burgundy Street Family Medical as an experienced General Practitioner, having previously practiced at the Centre Road Medical Centre in Bentleigh East for four years. He obtained his FRACGP through the Australian General Practice Training Program in 2011. Dr. Fernando has further qualifications as a Skin Physician and performs Minor Surgery and Skin Cancer Removal. Furthermore, he has 11 years of experience as a doctor in Australia. Dr. Fernando has previously worked as an Emergency Registrar at Werribee Hospital and General Surgical Registrar at Geelong Hospital.
As a General Practitioner Dr. Fernando specialises in all facets of General Practice, with special interest in Chronic Disease Management, Skin Cancer Checks and Minor Surgery, Hormonal Implant Insertion and Removal, Men’s Health, Travel Medicine and Workcover. He also teaches medical students from Monash University and Melbourne University, and is a supervisor to oversees trained doctors.
Dr. Rajendran has 11 years of experience as a General Practitioner. He initially worked in Emergency Medicine before turning his attention to General Practice. He is interested in all aspects of general practice with a special interest in mental health, chronic disease management and preventative health. Having worked in Queensland, Tasmania, India, Saudi Arabia and Maldives, he has experience working with a variety of patients. He can also speak in Tamil and Malayalam fluently. Dr. Rajendran is currently working towards his FRACGP.
Dr. Ritu Parmar has worked in primary care in both general practice and hospital settings. She is ECFMG certified in the USA, and has obtained LMCC in Canada, where she gained experience in many facets of general practice such as family practice, minor surgeries, women’s health, paediatrics and psychiatry.
Dr. Parmar is interested in all aspects of general practice with a particular focus on women’s and children’s health, antenatal care, family medicine, chronic disease management, and preventative health. She can also speak in Hindi fluently, and can converse in Punjabi and Urdu as well. Dr. Parmar has recently migrated from Canada and is currently working towards her FRACGP.
Dr Welendawe graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and a Bachelor of Surgery in Colombo, Sri-Lanka. A year as a resident doctor at a base hospital in Colombo followed before a further three years of training in emergency medicine and surgery at King George Hospital in London. He arrived in Australia in 2006 where his work and training continued in Queensland before he opted to take on two years as a registrar based in rural communities, initially at Stawell, in Maryborough. Victoria. He has obtained a fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) by completing the Australian GP training programme. He has been working as a GP in Australia for just over ten years. His main interests are chronic disease management and men’s health.

Dr. Bandula is a fellow of the Royal Australia College of General Practitioners and has been in general practice for 15 years. Her special interests are in women’s health, preventative care, chronic disease management and mental health.

Kai-Yi Chui (Christy) holds a professional membership of Dietitians Association of Australia (DAA) and is an Accredited Practising Dietitian (ADP) with a specific interest in the areas of diabetes, weight management, cardiovascular disease and women’s health. She is able to speak fluent English, Mandarin and Cantonese. She is also a newspaper columnist, health blogger and SBS radio presenter regarding health and nutrition. Carlo is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist and holds professional membership with Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA). He began his studies in the United States before deciding to move to Queensland to complete his Bachelor of Exercise Science in 2010 and Masters of Clinical Exercise Physiology in 2015. He has a special interest in mental health, chronic fatigue syndrome/ME, chronic pain, fibromyalgia and rheumatoid arthritis.
He is the founder of the Wellness Station in Heidelberg which is committed to providing a space where people can work on their bodies, nourish their minds and build human connections in an inclusive and private environment. Exercise services provide you with your own private exercise room where you can experience true one-on-one attention with full and exclusive use of exercise facility and uninterrupted care. Carlo is also the host of the podcast show “Embracing the Hustle” which talks about chronic illnesses and entrepreneurship. Clare is a registered Psychologist with a Masters in Clinical Psychology, Graduate Diploma in Behavioural Health Care, and Bachelor of Education (Secondary). Clare holds a full membership of the Australian Psychological Society and the College of Clinical Psychology.
Clare is a warm, compassionate, dedicated clinician who works collaboratively with clients to help them understand their issues of concern, develop effective coping strategies and implement positive changes, enhancing wellbeing and quality of life.
Clare specialises in the assessment and treatment of mental illness and also assists mentally healthy people facing challenging life circumstances find ways of functioning better.
Clare has extensive experience working across a diverse range of settings including community adult psychiatry, chronic pain programs, education (primary and secondary sectors) and private practice.
Clare has worked with children, adolescents, adults and their families presenting with a broad range of issues including anxiety, depression, stress, relationship difficulties, grief and loss, low self-esteem, parenting and chronic pain management. She has a special interest in body image, eating and weight management issues, having completed tertiary studies in food science and published articles in this area. Having encountered many young people experiencing stress and anxiety, Clare has conducted stress management workshops in schools to help students develop coping strategies and skills. She has also lead psychoeducational workshops to assist parents in understanding anxiety, specific techniques and strategies to manage anxiety, and helpful ways of responding to and supporting children during times of stress.
Clare utilises a range of evidence-based techniques and therapies in treatment, in particular principles from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness and Positive Psychology.
Clare is available at Burgundy Street Family Medical on Friday afternoons (1pm-5pm) and fortnightly on Saturday mornings (10am – 2pm).
Cresilda is a fully qualified and experienced registered nurse who is passionate and efficient about delivering a holistic approach of care to patients.
She has the ability to make sure that all nursing care delivered to patients at the practice is relevant, of a high standard and effective.
She has five years of experience in Medical Surgical Nursing. Her duties as a Practice Nurse include vaccinations, wound care, health assessments, pathology and assisting doctors with procedures and diagnostic examinations.
