Dr. Joseph Rodriguge Fernando

Position: Doctor MB.BS, FRACGP, Principal

Dr. Fernando comes to Burgundy Street Family Medical as an experienced General Practitioner, having previously practiced at the Centre Road Medical Centre in Bentleigh East for four years. He obtained his FRACGP through the Australian General Practice Training Program in 2011. Dr. Fernando has further qualifications as a Skin Physician and performs Minor Surgery and Skin Cancer Removal. Furthermore, he has 11 years of experience as a doctor in Australia. Dr. Fernando has previously worked as an Emergency Registrar at Werribee Hospital and General Surgical Registrar at Geelong Hospital.

As a General Practitioner Dr. Fernando specialises in all facets of General Practice, with special interest in Chronic Disease Management, Skin Cancer Checks and Minor Surgery, Hormonal Implant Insertion and Removal, Men’s Health, Travel Medicine and Workcover. He also teaches medical students from Monash University and Melbourne University, and is a supervisor to oversees trained doctors.

Dr. Leel Kodithuwakku

Position: Doctor, MB. BS., FRACGP

Dr. Leel is a fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP). He comes to Burgundy Street Family Medical as an experienced General Practitioner, having previously worked at Hamilton Family Practice and Centre Road Medical Centre in Bentleigh East.

As a General Practitioner Dr. Leel specialises in all facets of General Practice, with special interest in Mental Health, Chronic Disease Management, Men’s Health and Travel Medicine.

Dr Leel aims to assist people in achieving their best health outcomes, while remaining holistic, safe and supportive.

Dr. Joelene Lau

Position: Doctor, MB.BS., FRACGP, DRANZCOG

Dr. Joelene is a fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP). She obtained her medical degree (MBBS) from the University of Tasmania in 2012, and has worked at a few different hospitals, both urban and rural (including the Royal Melbourne and Royal Women’s Hospital) prior to training as a General Practitioner. Dr. Joelene practices in all aspects of General Practice (Preventative Health, Paediatrics, Travel Medicine etc.) and has done extra training in Women’s Health (Diploma of Obstetrics and Gynaecology) and Skin Cancer medicine (Practical Dermoscopy Certificate). She can also perform minor procedures like implanon insertion/ removal, mirena removal, and skin cancer excisions. Outside of work, Dr. Joelene enjoys food, travel, and spending time with family and friends.

Cresilda Fernandez

Position: Registered Nurse

Cresilda is a fully qualified and experienced registered nurse who is passionate and efficient about delivering a holistic approach of care to patients.
She has the ability to make sure that all nursing care delivered to patients at the practice is relevant, of a high standard and effective.
She has five years of experience in Medical Surgical Nursing. Her duties as a Practice Nurse include vaccinations, wound care, health assessments, pathology and assisting doctors with procedures and diagnostic examinations.

Yeying Wu

Yeying Wu

Position: Registered Nurse

Yeying is a fully qualified and experienced registered nurse. She completed her Bachelor of Nursing at La Trobe University. She is able to provide direct care and perform comprehensive health assessments and nursing interventions. Her duties as a Registered Nurse include vaccinations, wound care, health assessments, pathology and assisting doctors with procedures and diagnostic examinations.

Olivia Saaroni

Position: Physiotherapist
Olivia Saaroni:

Olivia brings a wealth of experience and expertise to her practice, with a strong focus on effectively managing musculoskeletal injuries and rehabilitation. Her background includes extensive work in manual therapy, exercise prescription, and active rehabilitation, as well as specialized experience in pre- and post-operative care for acute and chronic injuries. Furthermore, her work with elite-level athletes in soccer and AFL/AFLW showcases her expertise in the field. With a Doctor of Physiotherapy from Bond University and experience at Stanford University’s Sports Medicine Team, Olivia is well-equipped to provide high-quality care and support in diverse healthcare settings. She has extensive experience in hand therapy and prides herself on providing the most evidence-based care to her patients.

Amie Smith

Position: Dietician
Amie Smith:

Amie is an Accredited Practicing Dietitian (APD) and holds a professional membership with Dietitians Australia (DA). She is experienced in providing medical nutrition therapy for chronic disease management, along with expert nutritional advice for general health & wellbeing. Amie is passionate about providing personalised nutrition guidance and creating a supportive, non-judgmental environment for all clients. Chelsea Martino

Position: Exercise Physio
Chelsea Martino:

Chelsea is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist (specialising in Neurological Rehabilitation). With experience in all types of chronic health conditions and insurance schemes, Chelsea has a deep interest in prescribing movement for function longevity. Chelsea prides herself on having an empathetic approach with her patients, continuously aligning their goals and expectations to their condition symptoms and abilities. Chelsea strongly believes that her patients are more than their diagnosis, considering their stories as a vital piece to their rehabilitation puzzle.

Chelsea’s knowledge and understanding of chronic health conditions, gives patients comfort knowing that prescription is relevant, specific, and individualised. She believes that patients are not diagnosed cases but are individuals striving for an optimal quality of life.
